Introductory Memo
There was a time when the sound of temple bells slowly disappeared from Kashmir. Ancient shrines stood abandoned. Public religious processions vanished from the streets. Festivals, traditions and processions that once brought entire neighbourhoods together were reduced to memories carried by displaced families living far away from their homeland. Today, that is referred to as the ‘past’. Something different and positive is happening in Kashmir today. Revival of tradition and culture, which was considered impossible till a few years ago, is taking place. This brighter side of Kashmir is a story to be told as it unfolds.
