The Strait of Malacca is one of the world's most important maritime chokepoints, carrying a substantial share of global trade and energy supplies. India's engagement with Indonesia is now entering a new phase, evolving from diplomatic exchanges and naval exercises to cooperation anchored in ports, defence and maritime infrastructure. At the heart of this transformation are Great Nicobar and Sabang, two islands that together could reshape India's strategic presence at the gateway between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
