Narco-Terrorism and India's Internal Security: Confronting the New Drug-Terror Nexus

India today faces a rapidly evolving narco-terror challenge driven by cross-border trafficking, organized crime, and terror financing. As Myanmar replaces Afghanistan as the world's leading illicit opium producer, India's northeastern frontier has become increasingly vulnerable to drug networks. Coupled with the rise of domestic synthetic drug manufacturing, the threat demands a coordinated national response. The Government of India has adopted a comprehensive strategy integrating intelligence-led enforcement, border security, financial surveillance, international cooperation, and demand reduction.
