Introductory Memo
The global supply chain is under pressure due to the conflict in West Asia. It has pushed the world into energy uncertainty. From fuel shortages in Europe to economic stress in Pakistan, the impact of uncertainty is varied. In this situation too, India remains relatively stable. Some quarters are amplifying the concerns around LPG and crude oil supply. But, the fact remains that India is ensuring steady movement of its energy supplies through the conflict-zone.
This stability comes from well-envisioned diversification of the supply chain, reducing dependence on a single region, expanding sources of supply including from Russia while maintaining ties with traditional partners. Reliance on diplomatic coordination and measures like ‘Operation Urja Suraksha’ have secured supply routes. Let’s take a look at how India is managing this, what is India's plan B, and where does it get its oil and gas from?
