A country’s or any entity’s  name on the watchlists of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) can frighten away investors and raise the cost of borrowing. On 19 June 2026, an Indian official Vivek Aggarwal was elected FATF Vice-President for a one-year term. This is the first time India holds the post since joining FATF in 2010.
